I mean, WOW.

Way back in 2012 when the rights to the former Ideal properties were secured by Toyfinity, I had a long conversation with Matt Doughty about what we could do with the characters.

Those discussions were pretty intense and exhaustive. Anyone who knows me personally knows my predilection for checklists.

We looked over a list of the dozens of characters that Toyfinity now had access to and started to create a blueprint of what potential rollouts of these characters might look like.

The Manglord was one of the top contenders for a new toy - look at the original Ken Kelly boxart! A figure that actually captured a fraction of that mythic painted power could be a blockbuster.

Personally, much as I had felt with Robo Force, Manglors were too cool to be left on the scrapheap of history. There was so much potential that Ideal had just not been able to tap into with the designs.

There was also a chance to correct a great injustice with the Manglors - with Glyos, we could actually make Manglors that could be torn apart and reassembled.

Now, here we are after rolling out the new take on the Manglord and I am amazed and humbled by your response.

After years of data on previous Toyfinity figures, we crunched the numbers and put in a robust order for the standard Manglord....which you collectively exhausted the supply of the same night of the release.

This was too rapid and not our intention on the main character from the entire franchise.

Almost immediately, people were reaching out about the Manglord - and your collective feedback confirmed the need for more of him, now instead of later.

Luckily, we had a short window to add Manglord to an existing order to minimize the turnaround time.

We even gave you a taste of the next wave - and the results on everything were so strong that it has us looking at all the options for more Manglor madness.

Manglors - Press Release

For decades, the legends of their horrors have persisted.

The eggs, hidden in the depths of FOSSIL POINT, have existed in a state of hibernation.

Now, after forty years of silence, the volcano of MANGLOR MOUNTAIN has erupted again - and the MANGLORS - are back!

In 1983, the Ideal Toy Company introduced the "stick-icky creatures from another dimension", the Action Aliens known as the Manglors.

Comprised of both ferocious warriors and incredible creatures, these beings "made of the strangest stuff on earth" - sorbothane - were stretchy, sticky clay-like monstrosities.

The incredible box art by the late, great Ken Kelly promised the ultimate warriors of terror, but a perplexing marketing decision prompting kids to tear them apart doomed the line. Not even the addition of the amazing Prehi-Storage Eggs in 1984 could save the Manglors from tumbling into the toyboxes of obscurity. 

In 2013, Toyfinity officially acquired the rights to the Manglors. 

Developed for ten years, redesigned from the combined minds of Matt Doughty and Erwin Papa, the new Manglord stands tall at 4.25 inches of power!

The reimagined Manglors utilize the GLYOS SYSTEM of joint technology, allowing them to finally fulfill their original promise of "tear em apart / stick em back together again!"

Additionally, you can mix Manglors parts with any other Glyos compatible toyline to create your own custom monstrosities. 

The initial release of the new Manglors was on 1/29/2023 - with the standard classic colors Manglord selling out in less than two hours.

Shipping update! and a THANK YOU!

As of today, all packages (except those for my friends in Canada) have shipped! We've been burning the morning and midnight oils over here to get the Manglors out to you as quickly as possible. Finally we have a modernized system so you all should have received tracking numbers. If you have not received one by now, shoot us a message!

Obviously, a massive THANK YOU to everyone who is here for the "second life" of Toyfinity. One of the sole benefits of the last few years being impacted by the pandemic was gaining some time away from the everyday grind of life. That time was used to really evaluate the Toyfinity portfolio and determine the future direction here. 

It was in the very early days of Toyfinity that Matt Doughty showed me the concept work for the new Manglord. We were very close to producing him back in 2014. As has happened so many times, life occurred and the Manglors remained confined to the sketchbooks of secret Onell designs. So many versions...there were versions with tons of parts, ultra classic versions, versions in Kenner style, even one which would have incorporated Nazgar in human form! We'll delve into this more in the coming days. For a number of reasons, it just never came to fruition. 

Now, we have the incredible reimagining of the Manglord from the combined minds of Matt Doughty and Erwin Papa, with further visualization of the Manglors universe through the paintings of Nathan Baertsch. It's been a true pleasure to work with these masters in creating a new vision of the concepts that Ken Kelly had made for Ideal way back in the 80s. The release would not have been possible without Marc Beaudette of the Onell team, bringing his technical expertise to our new, modernized store and reworked overall site. It is hard to thank them enough for all of their work on this project.

I would also be remiss if I didn't thank my extended family and friends for their support throughout this process, as well as all the past contributors to "Toyfinity" over the years. If anything, this has never been a one-man show (except in the shipping department) - I could not have done it without all of you.

2023 promises to be a very fun year from Toyfinity - keep your eyes peeled to our socials for more fun with the Manglors!
