The human factor

Had Robo Force continued into its second year, we would have seen the introduction of multiple new characters, including the human who "designed and built the Robo Force" - Mark Fury, and his fellow freedom fighter Deena Strong.
Conceptually, was a line all about a planet of robots too strange for kids to really get into in 1984? Transformers and Gobots would tell us no. Adding the humans was just part of the story that Ideal would have told...it is also worth noting that these would not have specifically been Earth humans, as the entire story takes place on planet Zeton. Unless Zeton would have turned out to have been an Earth colony or something along those lines...

So what do you think? Is Mark Fury an integral part of the Robo Force mythos, or something best left in 1985? Should Deena Strong finally see production as part of the Toyfinity range?

  1. I would like to have both. I've even considered customizing Mark Fury from an Adam Power.

  2. I'm all for expanding the Robo Force universe, but I'd much rather see resources go towards a Nazgar figure or some of the remaining original or unreleased wave 2 figures. Some new heads would be nice too. Maybe save the human characters for later on down the road.

  3. Hi Dr. Kent, your pal Jafarstew here. As you know I have been strongly campaigning for Deena Strong to make it into the line (as well as Mark Fury). To me these 2 characters are integral part of the Robo Force universe. The one full animated piece of media we have for Robo Force centers around these 2 characters probably the most in the entire episode, they get just as much screen time (if not more) than Maxx or Hundred, and definitely more than Nazgar. The human element is supposed to be our way of being a part of the Robo Force world, and Deena and Mark represent that. When watching the one animated special I see these 2 characters and want to add them both so badly to my new Robo Force Universe that you have created, they complement each other and give the series more heart. I think both have terrific 80's nostalgia designs and would make quite striking action figures that your fans would love! They could even by sold with a Robo Force kit! In truth they add something very fun and exciting for me as a oldskool Robo Force fan (and complete) my Robo Force universe. Bringing back nostalgia properties is all about adding those characters that were never produced for retail, we see it all the time with MOTUC and the plan for the new Glyos Skeleton Warriors, (who plan to tackle the unmade Tayln character next!) If Robo Force had been a full TV series there is no doubt these 2 characters would have been a very important element to those stories. Ideal saw them fit to be next in line if Robo Force had continued, and I hope when the time is right you will too. =) -Chris

  4. My opinion would entirely hinge on what (or who) we wouldn't get as a result of having these two characters.

  5. I would love to see a release of a restored copy of the video.

The human figures would be great too, but agree with Fuzz and think we should get some more bad guys first.

  6. I agree with Fuzz, I would much rather see new Robo force charecters or new parts to make new characters than the human cast in fact I would prefer to see Manglors and more new colors of mortals before any of these humans that were never even a blip on my radar till you brought them up.

  7. While this is an old blog post, I think it's ok putting up my thoughts. I feel like creating the human characters would be cool once all of the original RF Zetonians have been produced (including the unreleased figures). It seems cool, but I'd prefer if the Zetonians were the priority.
